DEC 14: Warehouse Session with RENOL.

By Gunther Estrada.

Thanks to our friend Sevag  we have been able to skate the Volcom facility in Costa Mesa. This park has probably the nicest street set up of all (except for the Berrics), we have had many productive sessions at this place and the last session we had  we received a visit of one talented photographer from Mexico, “Renol”. He happend to be in Orange County for that day and decided to take a few shots at us. We appreciate his time and we look forward to see him in the near future.
Please make sure to check his site at www.renolphoto.com

DEC 12: Back Home.

By Gunther Estrada.

EnglishSpanish

(disculpas necesarias a mis amigos y familiares).

DEC 05: OH MY GOD, NEW STUFF!!!

” The old appeals to racial sexual religious chauvinism and to rabid nationalist fervor are beginning not to work. A new consciousness is developing which sees the earth as a single organism and recognizes that an organism at war with itself is doomed.”   – Carl Sagan.

Believing in and worshiping a superhuman controlling power or powers is probably the most popular thing since we evolved into humans; Organized religious institutions on the other hand are pretty new compared to what our primitive ancestors  believed in, considering their lack of Technology.  Institutionalized religious belief has caused more conflict than any other ideology in the history of the world so Im sure this new Tshirt will be a good ice breaker anywhere you go, if you are deeply religious; well, then….. forgive us ; ).

OCT 28: Damn Am.

By Gunther Estrada.

This last Friday 23th thru the 26th of November the Volcom facility in Costa Mesa congregated themost talented Amateurs in the planet when the Damn Am competition took place. We were there to check the unfuckingbelievable tricks this guys were bringing from different parts of the US and abroad. Of course at the Damn Am we are never disappointed and the event went like we expected, starting from the qualifiers to the ollie contest to the final and a few weirdos this event is always a great time to hang out with your friends and see the future of the industry pushing their limits to secure their place in it.
We have taken a few photos of the high ollie competition and the finals. I will not talk to much about it because I think we have enough visual material for you to enjoy without having me telling you a story. (also because i am tired an is almost midnight and my sleepy time is long past due).
Here you go, enjoy!

Tommy Fynn, The Best Style of the contest for sure. Backside Smith.

Tommy again. Noseblunt Backside.

Hali Estrada, Dave Duncan and Girlfriend watching the Comp.

The finals for the ollie competition were really disturbing, I had the chance to be filming and taking photos of this guys jumping over 3 feet like I would over a vereda (side walk). (sorry no photos of the winner here)

1st Kechaud Johnson 42″

2nd Luis Tolentino 41″

3rd Nate Principato 39″

The final was no surprise for me…

1st David Loy

2nd Cody Davis

3rd Felipe Gustavo

AUG 03: X-GAMES.

By Gunther Estrada.

It will sound a little weird for me to say this because I am still the same boy that used to get excited seeing random Sk8 footage on TV; while in my home city Lima Limon. Since we didn’t have (Back in the 80’s) Fuel TV or ESPN to feed us the latest events and upcoming Sk8 contest and/or parties, we had to get hyped with recording on our VHS little parts of commercials or movies that had some skating in it. That might sound corny for some of you, but that is how much we love Skateboarding. I remember my brother Hali getting excited with the Police Academy #4 movie where they had this part with Guerrero, Caballero, McGill, Mountain and Hawk skating, grinding and ollieing Shit…that was sick!!!

Anyways, what I am trying to say is that all that excitement was gone at the X-Games. The magic of something unpredictable and the same tricks from the same people, made me think that we are getting “Not Possessed by Skateboarding” anymore but by a Corporate Monster instead, that will bring you the same fucking massive “Feria” with cotton candy and mutant hot dogs on a stick, for people that are not really into Skateboarding but that are looking forward to see somebody fucking himself up trying a crazy trick or to get their 20 dollar chinese board signed by a pro they dont even know.

Second- P-Rod
Third- Lutzka
